Hacienda Heights, CA — After seeing Freshman and JV teams dominate their Montebello counterparts, and opening their Varsity game with a 16 to 0 run, maybe the Wildcats became too over confident, or maybe Montebello just wanted it more - as the Oilers beat the Wildcats, 57 to 51. During the 4th period Montebello received a double technical, that put the Wildcats up 49 to 37 with 5 minutes left, and should of helped the Wildcats seal the fate of the Oilers. Instead the Oilers doubled their effort,as they went on a 20 to 2 run in the final 5 minutes of the game. During these final 5 minutes of play, the Wildcats were only able to muster a meager 2 points, and those points came from the free throw line. The Wildcats settled for shooting 3 pointers that they went 0 for 6 on, and where they were out rebounded 0 to 7. They also made 4 turnovers, that directly lead to Montebello scores. It was a self implosion nightmare. If the Wildcats desire to be a contender during league they are going to need to figure out how to improve on the fundamental areas of better shooting, better rebounding, and reducing turnovers
