Montclair, CA — The Wildcats fell to Montclair 57-67 in a very physically contested game. The Cats got off to a very slow start, struggling to find a rhythm, making 11 turnovers, shooting only 25%, and the teams leading scorer Noah Tsai forced to sit the majority of the quarter due to getting into foul trouble early, resulting in Montclair having an 18-8 lead. In the second quarter, the Cats started to play better D, and find their shooting (33%), closing the gap 21-29 by half-time. Unfortunately, the Wildcats fell back into bad habits opening the 3rd quarter, with 6 turnovers, and sloppy defense, allowing Montclair to go on a 21 to 13 run, and close the quarter with a 16 point lead, 50-34. The Wildcats were able to refocus in the 4th period, shooting 64% and outscoring Montclair 23 to 17, but it was too little too late. On the bright side the Wildcats showed some improvement in their shooting - Dylan Grajeda leading the team with 15 points, and Tyler Kam with 13 points, but defense, rebounding, and turnovers still remain a weakness for the Wildcats.
