San Juan Capistrano, CA — The Lions opened up strong today, with a round I lead, 4 to 2. You can see the scores pictured above, with split round II, 3-3, leaving the Lions in the driver seat 7-5 headed in to round III. I like our chances here, but, should have probably headed over with a red container to the gas station. Yes, we literally ran out of gas! It was a tough way to end such a successful season, but, we advanced past our seeding [which was 10th]. Taylor, Jenna and Katy with Claire won 2 sets, with Kaley adding the additional singles set. Actually, the aforementioned girls all did their job according to out gameplan. "Our players NEVER have to be upset about not beating anyone's line 1 doubles or singles; our 1's need to beat their 2's and 3's, our 2's need to do the same; and all I ask of my 3's is that they beat their 3's. This formula cmputes to a 10-8 win every time. The reason I use this formula is to take pressure off my top players. The other schools can have the greatest #1 singles and doubles in the world and we do not care! "It sure would have been nice to been the host for semis, Wednesday", said Coach Kirk. "You could get in this event for a decade and never win all the coin flips we did" [to not have to travel]. We hosted an after the game bar b que w/ hot dogs and all the trimmings which was appreciated by all. Our hopes are that South Torrance can continue their run, which would help our final ranking! This is a great spring board for next seasons CIF quest! Good job Lions!
