Saint Genevieve 53, Adolfo Camarillo 68

Camarillo, CA — Camarillo Boy’s Varsity opened the 2019-20 season with a 68-53 victory over a gritty and experienced St. Genevieve team. The Scorpions opened strong with 3’s from sophomore point guard Jordan Torres and senior forward Branson Brooks. A strong defensive effort from juniors Chad Hiji-Madrid and Justin Xu allowed them to extend the lead over the St.Genevieve squad that was returning four Varsity starters. Torres finished with a team high 18 points and 6 assists. Brooks ended with 13 points and five rebounds. Hiji-Madrid contributed 3 blocks and 7 deflections, while Xu finished with 7 rebounds. Returning Varsity players Patrick Bowman and Anthony Frausto had solid games, Frausto had 10 points while Bowman accounted for 13 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals. Nice team effort in Coach Garrett’s ACHS debut.

Significant defensive effort, Often tasked with defending opponents best player. Led team in deflections, Many of which led to steals and transition points in our favor.

Efficient performance offensively, shooting 50 % from the three point line. Brooks contributed 13 points.

Torres led the team in assists and points. He did a solid job in his first Varsity contest handling the ball pressure from the physical and experienced St. Genevieve squad.
