Nanakuli, HI — A game that was expected to be very competitive, turned out to be a disaster for our Sabers. We started out flat and things spiraled out of control. The All Black Crusaders scored on all of their first half possessions and took an early 24-0 lead at the half. Offensively, we couldn’t stop the Crusader pass rush and had a difficult time creating lanes for our running back. Our passing game seemed more effective than our running game tonight, especially after our starting running back re-aggravated an injury he suffered the week before. He would leave the game in the second quarter. The Crusaders returned the second half kick-off all the down to about the Saber 35 yard line. A personal foul penalty would set them up 1st and 10 from inside the 20 yard line. Two plays later, they would extend their lead to 30-0. Offensively, we had a little more success in the second half, but not enough to manufacture any points. Quarterback DJ Faavi made some plays with his feet to keep a few drives alive and earned the Ultimate Player Award for our team. The Crusaders scored once more in the third quarter before sending in the reserves to finish out the game. A tough loss, but as we all know, our boys have a lot football left to play.
