South El Monte, CA — The Chiefs continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 victory over South El Monte High School. The Eagles struck first, against the run of play, when their forward slipped between the defense and keeper and headed home nicely. The game was 1-0 at half despite Santa Fe controlling the game. After half time, the Chiefs came out with much energy. Santa Fe equalized through Tony Tetteh, who slotted home after a centering pass from Victor Renteria in the box. A few minutes later the Chiefs took the lead when LB Nick Diaz broke forward and finished well beyond the keeper. The Eagles put up a strong period of pressure during the last 10 minutes but the Chieftans secured the victory.
