Whittier, CA — For the second time this week, the Pioneer Titans outhit their opponent but failed to secure the victory. Pioneer Titans lost the lead late in a 16-9 defeat to Calvary Chapel on Wednesday. The game was tied at five with Calvary Chapel batting in the top of the fifth when Ezra Olivares doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Jelanni Wilson drove in four runners in the loss. Wilson drove in runs on a stolen base in the first and a home run in the sixth. Pioneer opened up scoring in the second inning when Xavier Cervantes singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The Titans notched four runs in the sixth inning. Hitters contributing to the big inning included Cervantes and Wilson, who all drove in runs. Calvary Chapel scored eight runs in the sixth inning. Calvary Chapel's big inning was driven by singles by Jonathan Brown and Nicholas Milledge, a walk by Chris Berry, a triple by Tyler Lavoie, by Jadon Linnell, and a fielder's choice by Michael Randazzo. Aaron Neal earned the win for Calvary Chapel. He lasted five and a third innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out one.
