Buhler, KS — A grueling three hour contest between the JV Lions and the Buhler Crusaders ended in celebration as the Lions pulled out the late comeback after seemingly letting the game slip through their fingers. The Lions trailed by a field goal early in the game, when the offense started to clip and behind the punishing running of Devin Mathes the Lions were able to march the field int he first half and take a 20-10 halftime lead. Once in the second half, the offensive unit struggled mightily with turnovers, throwing back to back interceptions and later fumbling deep in their own end. The defense did all they could to keep the Crusaders out of the end zone, but the tall task saw the Lions squander a lead in the fourth quarter and be four points down with less than two minutes to play. Cooper Zimmer then lead the Lions down the field with catches by Jack Enegren and Mason Healy, to eventually throw the go-ahead score to Gavin Hutchinson for his second TD of the night. The defense held off a last second attempt by Buhler, and the Lions JV completed the Buhler Sweep for the year!
