Whittier, CA — Pioneer High School completed a two game sweep against the John Glenn Eagles on Friday with a big win at home. Glenn opened up scoring in the first inning, when an 3 errors led to one run for Glenn. The Titans battled back-to-back 4 run innings in the first and second. Pioneer notched seven runs in the sixth inning. The Titan batters contributing to the big inning included Adrian Hernandez, Adam Agajanian, Eddie Delgado, Druw Galindo, Nick Garcia, and Tony Beltran, who each had RBIs in the inning. Joaquin Trinidad picked up the win for Pioneer, after having to take over on the mound in the 2nd inning. The fireballer surrendered three runs on three hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Tony Beltran threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Chavez took the loss for Glenn. The pitcher allowed eight hits and 12 runs over five innings, striking out five. Damon Galindo started the game for PiHi. The hurler allowed zero hits and one run over one inning, striking out one and walking zero Nathan Price went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Pioneer Varsity Titans in hits. Gabriel Stevens led Pioneer with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.
