Fairfield, CA — Vanden Vikings JV took the lead late in the game in a 6-2 victory over Will C. Wood on Tuesday to improve their record to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in M.E.L. competition. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the fifth when Landon Flaxmayer hit a fielder's choice that plated the leading run. The Vikes got things started in the first inning when Jovan Ochoa singled to score Josiah Miguel who got himself into scoring position by stealing second base after drawing a walk. Vanden tallied three more runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was sparked by a 2 RBI triple by Dalen Shipp and followed by an RBI single by Ochoa. Brayden Bruno led things off on the hill for the Vikings. The sophomore lasted three innings, allowing one run on three hits, while striking out three and issuing four base on balls. Josh Sanchez collected the win for the Vikings by throwing the last three innings allowing zero runs and zero hits. He fanned three Wildcats in the process, while issuing two base on balls. Vanden Vikings JV totaled nine hits in the game. Ochoa and Aidan Robles each managed two hits to lead the way.
