Fairfield, CA — Vanden Vikings JV grabbed an early lead on their way to a 12-6 victory against Rodriguez on Tuesday. The victory improved their record to 9-2 overall, and 6-1 in M.E.L. play. The Vikings scored four runs in the second inning and tagged on five more in the third inning to take control of the game early. There was plenty of action on the base paths as the Vikes banged out 13 hits and stole 7 bases. Meanwhile, the Mustangs had six hits as a team. Vanden started it’s offensive assault in the second inning. Landon Flaxmayer singled on an 0-2 count scoring Aiden Nolan who reached base on a walk and then put himself in scoring position by stealing second base. Kayden Omoso, Joseph Torres and Aidan Robles would all subsequently get hits to complete the four-run rally. Vanden would continue their offensive onslaught in the third inning by adding on five more runs. The inning was highlighted by Joseph Torres’ 2 RBI single. He would finish the game 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Brayden Bruno got the start on the mound for the Vikings. The sophomore lasted four innings, allowing 3 runs while giving up only two hits. He also struck 3 batters but found himself in trouble with three walks. Only one run was earned as two crossed the plate due to passed balls. Vanden offense was led by Aidan Robles, Kayden Omoso and Landon Flaxmayer. The trio each had three hits each. Gabe Ponce and Torres each had a pair as well. The Players of the Game were Aidan Robles and Kayden Omoso. Robles went 3 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 run scored and 3 stolen bases. Omoso went 3 for 3, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored and a stolen base. The two middle-infielders also turned two smooth double-plays in the first and second inning in support their pitcher.
