Fairfield, CA — Vanden Vikings JV weathered a scare by Armijo in the first inning where Vanden Vikings JV coughed up four runs, but the Vikes still won 11-7 on Thursday. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Vanden Vikings JV collected twelve hits and Armijo seven in the high-scoring affair. Vanden Vikings JV evened things up at five in the bottom of the third inning. Aiden Nolan ignited the inning with an RBI triple. While “Shoeless” Jimmy Brousseau plated the tying run.. Vanden pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. Joseph Torres singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Torres would earn the win for Vanden Vikings JV on the mound. The freshman lefty pitched two innings in relief of starter Aiden Nolan, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out one and walking one and beaning two Armijo Royals in the process. Kayden Omoso threw the final two innings in relief out of the bullpen collecting the save. Gabe Navarette started the game for Armijo. The hurler lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and nine runs while striking out five. Romo finished the game out of the bullpen. Aiden Nolan started the game for Vanden. He went three innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out five and issuing three base on balls. Vanden Vikings JV racked up 12 hits in the game. Trevor Morse led the way with three while Brayden Bruno managed two hits for Vanden including a double. Trevor Morse was selected as the Vikings player of the game.
