Fountain Valley, CA — JV opened up the Trinity League tennis season at Los Caballeros losing to Mater Dei 7-11. First and foremost, thanks to all the parent drivers and spectators. We couldn’t have gotten 12 players to the match today without you AND we appreciate the fan support. THANK YOU! MVP honors for this league match go to those who won 2 sets today: Rosalia Ripullo in singles and Sophia Gonzalez with Julia Harkins in doubles. Julia actually was the only one to win 100% of her matches - playing 2, winning 2! Well done. Rosalia defeated their #2 and #3 players before facing their top player Lexie in a tough 3-6 loss. Fighting back from a 1-5 deficit in round 1, Ava Zell and Breanna Ursetta forced a tie-breaker, in which unfortunately, they came up short. Breanna was able to win a tie-breaker with Natalie Walters in round #2 against their line 1 team. Anna Solovjev picked up a 3rd round singles win, as did Erica Gonzalez with Hayden Gibson in doubles. Erica, thank you for stepping up today and filling in. Nice job! We have to find a way to win more sets in the FIRST round. To win tough matches, league championships and CIF matches, a team has to win critical #3 line singles and doubles, which speak to the depth of the team. We’re getting better..... Next up: home vs Santa Margarita, Tuesday March 23rd, 3pm.
