San Juan Capistrano, CA — Any win over the Eagles is huge, however today’s was especially sweet. We have a few young players who have come up through our junior development program, starting as young as age 5 and it’s awesome to see them perform at such a high caliber. Another positive for today’s win was the balanced “attack”. We won 5 singles matches and 5 doubles matches. JSerra took both the first and second rounds 4 sets to 2, giving us a”not so comfortable” lead (8-4) going into the third and final round. Our final 2 sets, to give us our 10 sets necessary for match win: kudos to Ava Zell and Breanna Ursetta in a come from behind 7-5 victory for #9 and MVP Rosalia Ripullo who won her third set of the day for #10 by a score of 6-1. In round #2, Rosalia came from a 1-4 deficit to post a 6-4 win over the Eagles top player. Well done! She is now UNDEFEATED in Trinity League play with a perfect 6-0 record. Winning 2 of 3 sets played today in singles with a super MVP effort: Ava Serentelos winning 6-4 twice, and then went up and got 3 games off their top player! 4 of our doubles sets came from 2 teams: kudos to Ava Zell and Breanna Ursetta; and Sophia Gonzalez with Julia Harkins. The 5th doubles set win came from Hayden Gibson and Anna Solovjev in an exciting 2nd round 6-3 victory on court #5. Game count (88-77) would have given us the win, had we tied 9-9. And for that, a shout out to Katherine Dygean who, after dropping her opening set to their top player, battled 2 x 5-7 set losses, but giving us 10 games in the process. This match almost ended as a 9-9 tie, and every one of these games would have been the margin of victory. Great effort today. Next up: vs Rosary at Fullerton Tennis Center, next Tuesday, March 30th at 2:30pm.
