San Juan Capistrano, CA — Biggest single set upset in JSerra tennis history! Although the Lions were on the short end of a 9-9 tie; 66 to 73 in game count, senior Olivia McHenry put the Lions in a good position to win, with the biggest single set upset victory in JSerra tennis history. She did so by dismantling the Eagles line #2 player 6 -2 in round 3. The girls were down 5-7 after round 2, knowing we needed to sweep all 3 doubles matches and capture 1 elusive singles set. Kaley Houshmand had to play SM's line #1 player, [who is the best player in our league], so that seemed to be a tough chore, but, Kaley set up Liv's epic win by beating the line#2 player just prior to Olivia taking the court. Kaley had easily beat the line#3 SM girl in round one. Our doubles did sweep round 3, giving us the tie in sets, just shy on game count. "I saw some great efforts out there today" said KOach Kirk... "improvement in several areas vs outr initial match with SM. They added a real strong line#3 player, who did not compete against us before. Unfortunately, due to a 5 team league, CIF doesn't automatically send 3 teams from the Trinity to CIF team. We just have to close out the season with dubs and hope for the best." This Thursday is a nonleague dual vs St MArgarets, our last home match which will be our senior 'night'. Let's get some fans here for this 'friendly' vs our San Juan neighbor! Go Lions!
