Lakeville, MN — Another tough day defensively for the Blaze, as a combination of errors and timely hits by the Panthers made this a forgettable game for Burnsville. Lakeville North wins this one 11-1 in 5 innings. We will focus on the bright spots for Burnsville: Owen Geegan pitched great in relief of starting pitcher Kade Bowar (2 1/3 inns, 4 ER). Geegs went 1 2/3 innings, giving up no runs or hits, and striking out 4. Bowar drove in Burnsville's only run on a line drive base hit to right to score Jackson Kieffer in the 4th inning. Kieffer had singled, stole 2nd, and scored on Kade's base it. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Lucas Trussell just missed a bases clearing double, but the ball fell inches foul down the left field line. Alas, it really wasn't the Blaze's night. Ben Meuser pounded a double to centerfield (against the wind) to bust out for his first hit of the year. Junior second baseman Connor Quimby also ripped his first varsity base hit with a solid single to left field. Bowar ended up 1 for 1 with a HBP and RBI, Kieffer was 1 for 2 with a run and SB, Meuser was 1 for 1 with a walk and double, and Quimby was 1 for 2. The Blaze (0-3) look to right the ship on Monday Apr 19 in their home opener at Alimagnet vs Apple Valley.
