Burnsville, MN — It was a cathartic night at Alimagnet for the Burnsville Blaze baseball team, winning their home opener 5-2 over Apple Valley on a rainy Friday night. First baseman aBen Meuser walked to load the bases, and Dawson scored on a wild pitch. Senior shortstop and co-captain Kade Bowar singled in Voss for the 2nd run of the inning. Apple Valley scored 2 unearned runs in the 2nd on back to back singles, a wild pitch, an error, and a sacrifice fly. The Blaze took the lead for good in the bottom of the 4th, as Bowar reached on an error. Asher Giese reached on an infield single, and Zach LaMotte scored Bowar on a fielders choice. Giese took advantage of a relaxed Apple Valley defense and hustled home on the same play, to make it 4-2 Blaze. The Blaze plated one more run in the 6th as Giese led off with a walk and stolen base, moved to 3rd on a ground ball to the right side by LaMotte, and scored on a wild pitch. The Blaze were led at the plate by Ethan Voss, who was 3 for 4 with a run scored, stole a base and had a double.
