Burnsville, MN — The Blaze faced off against #4 ranked Farmington, the top team in the loaded South Suburban Conference, losing 5-0 on a sunny but windy day at Alimagnet Park. Ethan Voss started for the Blaze, giving up 3 runs in the 2nd inning, of which only 1 was earned. He gave up a one out single, followed by an error, a walk, a double and a squeeze bunt to score the runs. Ethan struck out 8 in his 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 walks. Owen Geegan, Blake Schmeling and Nick Hughes finished up in relief for the Blaze. Schmeling pitched 2/3 of an inning to get the Blaze out of a jam in the 6th, and Hughes pitched a scoreless 7th. The Blaze did get 5 runners into scoring position during the game, but like much of the season so far, the big hit didn't come. The Blaze had 5 players with 1 hit - Kade Bowar, Ethan Voss, Connor Quimby, Jonah Dawson, and Asher Giese. Voss' hit was a double over the right fielder's head, and Giese also drew the only walk off Tiger pitching. The bright spots for the Blaze defense were nice double plays turned by the middle infielders Bowar and Quimby to end the 5th and 7th innings respectively. RIght fielder Jackson Kieffer also made an impressive diving catch to rob a hit in the 6th. The Blaze take on Lakeville South on Wednesday at 6:00 at Alimagnet.
