Burnsville, MN — Things are clicking right now for the Burnsville boys - a 9-4 home victory over Eastview today at Alimagnet runs their win streak to 3 straight. A shaky first inning didn't phase them one bit. After falling behind 3-0, they strapped on their hitting shoes in the 2nd inning and got to work, posting a big ol' crooked number - hanging 6 runs on the Lightning on 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 hit batsmen in the inning. After that, the Blaze rode the very strong right arm of senior Ethan Voss to victory. That big 2nd inning started with shortstop Kade Bowar's single up the middle, followed by a Ben Meuser single, and a Sean Emerson walk to load the bases. Senior 2nd baseman Zach LaMotte lined a big base hit to left to score Bowar. Asher Giese and Jackson Kieffer were both hit by pitches to bring in Meuser and Emerson to tie the game at 3-3. A sacrifice fly by Jonah Dawson scored LaMotte, and then the back breaker was a 2-run single up the middle by senior left-fielder Jordon Sieben. The 3 run lead was not to be relinquished on this sunny, but cool afternoon, as the Blaze's confidence seems to be rising with each victory. The Blaze offense added on insurance runs in the 5th and 6th. Bowar led off the 5th with a triple to right and scored on an Emerson ground out. Kieffer led off the 6th with a single and scored on a Voss base knock. After Bowar was hit by a pitch and Meuser singled, Emerson was then hit by a pitch to force in the 9th and final run of the game. Ethan Voss settled in nicely after Eastview scored 3 in the first inning. Voss went the distance for the first time this year, as he racked up 9 Ks and got stronger as the game went along. He gave up 7 hits, 1 walk, and hit 2 batters. Other than a misplayed bunt that led to some of the damage in the 1st, the defense was solid all night, and turned a nice DP in the 1st inning to limit the damage to 3 runs (6-4-3, Bowar to LaMotte to Meuser). The offense tallied double digit hits for the 2nd straight game, barraging Eastview pitching with 11 hits, as well as drawing 4 walks and taking 3 for the team (we got ice!). Meuser led the way going 3 for 4, with a double and a run, Bowar was 2 for 3 with triple, 2 runs, and a HBP, Voss was 1 for 3, with a run, RBI, walk and stolen base, Kieffer was 1 for 2 with 2 runs, an RBI, a walk, a stolen base and a HBP, Sieben was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, Emerson was 1 for 2, with a run, 2 RBI, a walk and a HBP, LaMotte was 1 for 2 with a run, RBI and a walk, Dawson was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Giese had a run, RBI and a stolen base. The red hot Blaze (4-10) will play a rare road game next as they travel to Apple Valley for a 4:30 game on Wednesday.
