Burnsville, MN — After a couple of tough games to end the week against the Lakeville Squads, the Blaze bounced back in a big way in a non-conference game against The Spartans from Rochester Mayo. Coach Walsh's squad was lead by a very efficient outing on the mound from Freshman Jacob Neutz. Jacob threw five innings with a very minimal 66 pitches only allowing 3 un-earned runs. Jake Struzyk came on in relief to pitch the final 2 innings not allowing a run. Alex Thompson was a standout at SS making several plays look easy as he assisted on 3 putouts. Meanwhile, Jayden Chow got Struzyk out of a jam to end the game as he threw out a Spartan attempting the Cardinal Sin of making the 3rd out at 3B to end the game. On the offensive end the Blaze exploded for 12 hits. Chow, Struzyk, Neutz and Palmer all lead the way with 2 hits. In addition to that Thompson, Drake Sloan, Max Fox, and Baily Wishart all chipped in with a knock. Neutz came clutch with 3 RBI's along with 2 from Struzyk and an additional RBI each from Max Fox, Simon Palmer, and Baily Wishart. Struzyk crossed the dish for 3 runs, while Chow pitched in 2 from the lead off spot. In addition to that Baylor Limberg, Thompson, Sloan and Wishart all plated a run. The theme of the day for the Blaze was a comedy of errors on the base paths. If the Black and Gold would have tightened that up they may well have been able to get out of the day in 5 innings. Always good to learn and improve when you get a win. Looking forward to a competitive week upcoming as the Blaze have games with Eastview, Apple Valley and Rosemount. GO BLAZE!
