Fontana, CA — The Indians took the field last night in what was their first scrimmage against a major division team since pre-COVID. They hosted the Elks Yankees at Bill Martin Park in what started off as a pitching dual. The Indians received a great start from AJ, who was able to go through the Yankees line up in his two innings of work without giving up a run. The Indians appeared to be getting ready to score in the bottom half of the 1st, but were denied by a tremendous diving catch by the shortstop. Jacob came in relief to begin the 3rd inning and did a great job getting out of a jam. The Indians finally were able to put up a run on the board when Phillip caught the pitcher napping and stole home. What an exciting play! Jacob came back out in the 4th and had an immaculate inning, striking out the side on just nine pitches. The Indians bats came alive in the 4th, blowing the game open with 6 runs in the frame. The rally was highlighted by an RBI triple by AJ and a clutch 2 run single by Eddie. Nolan came in and shut down the Yankees in the 5th to close out the game. Overall a great performance by our pitchers and a great job behind the plate by Adan. Great job kids on a fun team win. This will give the Indians good momentum going into the regular season, beginning this Monday, April 19th at Bill Martin Park at 7:30pm.
