Burnsville, MN — Burnsville 9A's effort to come back from down four runs in the second inning came up just short, as they fell 7-6 to Mayo Spartans Freshman on Saturday. The Blaze jumped out to an early lead in the first inning on a double by Luke McHugh scoring Darren Einberger. A couple of walks then loaded the bases and AJ Galvin was hit by a pitch to bring in McHugh. The Spartans answered back with 6 runs in the second and one more in the 5th. The Blaze scored four runs in the failed comeback on a double by AJ Galvin in the third, a groundout by Noah Lindsey in the third, and a groundout by Luke Dam in the seventh. The Blaze left the tying run at third in the bottom of the seventh. Noah Lindsey was on the pitcher's mound for the Blaze. Lindsey went two innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one. Luke McHugh, Nick Discher, and Luke Dam each contributed in relief. Eli Johnson went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead the Blaze in hits. Johnson, McHugh, Galvin and Chase Classen all had doubles; while Brandon Einberger, Kenny Steffen and Greydon Isebrand had singles.
