Rosemount, MN — Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between Burnsville 9A and Rosemount 9A where the Blaze prevailed 17-6. The Blaze opened up scoring in the first inning when Chase Classen was hit by a pitch and then scored when John Santelman doubled. After loading the bases, Kenny Steffen knocked in the second run when John beat the throw home. Unfortunately, the Blaze left the bases loaded to end the inning up 2-0. The Irish got a run back in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 2-1. In the top of the second, Darren Einberger and Chase singled ahead of Greydon Isebrand’s inside the park home run. Two more singles by Eli Johnson and Luke McHugh put the Blaze up 6-1. The Irish got two runs back in their half of the inning to cut the lead to 6-3. Consecutive singles by Luke Dam, Darren and Chase to strart the third inning plated one more run, and then Greydon hit a sac fly and another single by Eli put the Blaze up 9-3. The Irish weren’t going away easy as they answered back with two more in the bottom of the third to cut the Blaze lead to 9-5. The top of the forth started saw 3 consecutive singles by Darren, Chase and John, another Sac Fly from Greydon and 2 more singles from Eli and Kenny to extend the Blazes lead to 13-5. The Irish scored their final run to cut the lead to 13-6 going into the sixth inning. The Blaze scored four more runs in the sixth inning on a single by Eli, a fielders choice from Kenny, and sac fly by Nick Discher to put the Blaze us 17-6 Eli for the start for the Blaze and allowed six runs (four earned) on five hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Luke D came in for the sixth and held the Irish scoreless to end the game. The Blaze had 19 hits in the game. Eli went 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs, while Greydon knocked in 5 runs at to lead the Blaze. Darren (3-for-4), John (3-for-5, 2 RBI) Chase (3-for-3, 1 RBI) and Kenny (2-for-5, 3 RBIs) all collected multiple hits for the Blaze. Luke D, Luke M and Brandon Einberger each had one hit. The Blaze stole nine bases during the game, Chase and John Santelman led the way with three each.
