Saratoga Springs, NY — Burnt Hills fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-6 loss to Saratoga Springs on Saturday in the second, non-league contest of a double header. Saratoga Springs took the lead for good on a groundout in the second inning. Despite the loss, Burnt Hills did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Saratoga Springs had nine hits of their own on the way to victory. The Spartans scored six runs in the fifth inning in their attempted comeback. The big bats were led by Kyle DeCresce, Matt Pinkerton, Matt Mitchell, and Greg Wescott, all driving in runs in the inning. Saratoga Springs scored three runs in the fourth inning. Sean Hudson, Michael Leonard, and Lucas Ferro each had RBIs in the big inning. Cooper Walley earned the win for Saratoga Springs. The hurler went one and one-third innings, allowing six runs on four hits. Xavier Garcia and Charles Brockett entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Kyle Kristel took the loss for Burnt Hills. Kristel allowed six hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Julian Hrbek started the game for Saratoga Springs. The fireballer went three innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out three and walking one. DeCresce went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Spartans in hits. Evan Owens led Saratoga Springs with two hits in four at bats.
