Burnt Hills, NY — A walk-off home run propelled Burnt Hills to a decisive, dramatic victory over Columbia, 4-3. The game was tied at three with Burnt Hills batting in the bottom of the eighth when Justin Gray hit a solo homer on the first pitch he saw. Columbia scored three runs in the sixth inning, but the Spartans still managed to pull out the victory. Kyle McNeff and Jacob Skarlis both drove in runs in the frame. Columbia knotted the game up at three in the top of the sixth inning, when Kyle DeCresce induced Skarlis to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Ben Hladun was the winning pitcher for Burnt Hills. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out three and walking zero. Carter Albano took the loss for Columbia. Albano surrendered one run on two hits over one inning, striking out one and walking zero. Jack Bennett started the game for Columbia. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out eight DeCresce started the game for Burnt Hills. The righthander went six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out six. Burnt Hills launched two home runs on the day. DeCresce went yard in the fourth inning. Gray had a homer in the eighth inning. Burnt Hills racked up six hits in the game. Noah DiCaprio and DeCresce each collected multiple hits for the Spartans.
