Latham, NY — The Burnt Hills Spartans fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-2 loss to Shaker on Wednesday. Shaker got on the board in the first inning when Trey Mariano's sac fly scored one run for Shaker. After a lengthy rain delay, Shaker came back and scored four more runs in the fifth inning. Joey Mirabile and Joe Karpierz all drove in runs in the frame. John Graney was the winning pitcher for Shaker. The bulldog went seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out seven. Ben Hladun took the loss for Burnt Hills. The pitcher surrendered two unearned runs on three hits over three innings, striking out three. Kyle DeCresce, Liam Blesi, Jack Duane, and Vincent Vendetti all had one hit to lead the Spartans. Shaker saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Ryan Bates, Karpierz, and Jake Daniels each racked up multiple hits. Bates went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Shaker in hits. Shaker was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Mirabile had the most chances in the field with eight.
