Birmingham, MI — The Highlanders travelled to Birmingham this weekend to play the Seaholm Maples and left no doubt who was the top dog in this fight. The Highlanders came out of the gate and marched down the field scoring their first TD when Andrejack connected with Ferris and Watters converted on the extra point making it 7-0 within minutes. The Highlanders defense set the tone for the Maples offense with a quick fumble recovery by Limke on their first drive. That recovery lead to another Highlanders TD when Watters followed a huge hole created by a strong push from the front line. Two possessions in and the Highlanders were already up 13-0. Once again the Maples had no answer as their offense went yet another 3 and out. The Highlanders next drive looked like something out of Madden 21' when King had a 45 yard scamper with spins, jukes and a few broken ankles on the defensive side of things before he was pushed out inside the red zone, but finished the drive with his own TD on the next play putting the Highlanders up 19-0. The Highlanders continued to dominate the line of scrimmage on the defensive side of things and blocked the Maples punt setting themselves up with great field possession on the next series. Andrejack continued the onslaught with another pass to Ferris making the score 25-0 heading late into the second quarter. Limke was showing that the rain nor the cold weather was going to stop him from shutting down the Maples on the defensive side of things and came up with a huge interception on the Maples 7 yard line. Andrejack made short work of the great field position and scored one for himself on a 7 yard scamper making it 31-0. The Maples had one light of hope before halftime when they scored right before halftime making it 31-7. The second half wasn't any prettier for the Maples when the offensive line continued to open up big holes allowing Heppner to widen the lead with a nice run running the score up to 37-7. The Highlanders defense continued to manhandle the Maples with monster hits and led to a Hart Fumble recovery late in the game. The final nail in the coffin came from Ferris when he started off the 4th quarter with another TD run making the score 43-7. The Maples struck one more time late in the 4th making it 43-13 but it certainly didn't put a dent in the lopsided game that the Highlanders brought to Birmingham. Final Score 43-13 Highlanders.
