Alhambra, CA — With only a 30 minute break between the two games, South Pasadena SPHS JV took the lead late in the 2nd game with a 12-11 victory over Alhambra on Saturday. South Pasadena offense started in the 1st inning with St. Vaughn, Holly, Robinson and Hwang providing hits and 3 runs. Robinson doubled on a 3-1 count to left field accounting for 2 RBIs bringing in St. Vaughn and Holly. 1st Basemen, Hwang provided the 3rd RBI with a hard ground ball to left field. Owen Woodworth was on the mound for South Pasadena pitching four innings with 5 strike outs. Petrillo and Maling provided relief for the remaining three innings. After South Pasadena SPHS JV scored one run in the top of the fourth, Alhambra answered with one of their own. South Pasadena SPHS JV scored when Richard Conti doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Alhambra then answered when an error scored one run for Alhambra. Alhambra scored four runs in the sixth inning. The game was tied at eight with South Pasadena SPHS JV batting in the top of the seventh when Jack Holley drew a walk, scoring one run. South Pasadena went on to score 7 runs in the 7th inning. South Pasadena SPHS JV collected 11 hits & Alhambra collected 17 hits. The difference was Alhambra walked 8 South Pasadena players. Conti, Lucien St. Vaughn, and Holley each collected multiple hits for South Pasadena SPHS JV. Conti led South Pasadena SPHS JV with three hits in four at bats. A four-run lead in the seventh inning was just enough for South Pasadena SPHS JV to hold off Alhambra for the victory. Alhambra scored three runs in the failed comeback on a double.
