The JSerra Girls Beach Volleyball team moved yet another step closer to a CIF-SS title on Wednesday, as Lions rolled to a 5-0 victory over the Newport Harbor Sailors in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs at Grant St. Beach Courts in Newport Beach.
JSerra has now won 14 consecutive matches (all by shutout) and will take a 14-1 record in to the Division 1 semifinals on Saturday, when they take on Redondo Union at Long Beach City College.
The winner of that match will take on the winner of the Mira Costa/Huntington Beach semifinal match in the championship, which will also be played on Saturday at LBCC.
The tandems of sophomores Sara Moynihan and Emma Champagne, juniors Grace Fogel and Nicole Thorp, junior Ruby Hill and sophomore Skylar Noble, sophomore Catherine Beadles and freshman Katherine Nowak, and sophomore Charlotte Nowak and freshman Kaitlyn Dostert all produced two-set victories.
