The JSerra Girls Beach Volleyball team began its’ postseason journey on Saturday with another dominating performance, as the Lions swept Santa Barbara High, 5-0, in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs at JSerra Catholic High School. JSerra, the No. 2 overall seed in Division 1, has now posted 13 consecutive shutout victories this season to improve to 13-1 overall. The Lions will host the winner of the Tesoro/Newport Harbor second round match (scheduled for Monday afternoon) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Sophomores Sara Moynihan and Emma Champagne continued their undefeated season with victories of 21-11 and 21-12 in line one competition. Juniors Grace Fogel and Nicole Thorp claimed their line two match-up 21-15 and 21-16. Junior Ruby Hill and sophomore Skylar Noble handled line three with victories of 21-10 and 21-9. Senior Jessica Bates and sophomore Catherine Beadles were involved in the tightest set of the match in line four, emerging with a 23-21 first set victory before winning 21-16 in their second set. Sophomore Charlotte Nowak and freshman Kaitlyn Dostert claimed their two line five sets by identical scores of 21-11.
