The JSerra Baseball team was on the wrong end of a spirited comeback on Tuesday, as the Servite Friars rallied for an 8-4 victory over the Lions on Senior Day at JSerra Catholic High School. JSerra is now 15-11-1 overall and 7-7 in league heading into the regular season finale, scheduled for Thursday afternoon at Servite. The Lions remain 1.5 games ahead of St. John Bosco for third place and the final automatic Trinity League playoff berth. It was a promising start for JSerra, as they struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore Marcus Greis delivered a booming double off the wall in left center field to score junior Jordan Marian and sophomore Blake Bowen, and then scored on an RBI double that tucked just fair down the right field line off the bat of senior Dmitri Susidko. Servite got on the board in top of the third inning with an RBI single, but Bowen answered in the bottom half of the inning, as he launched a booming solo home run well over the left field fence to make it 4-1. However, the Lions offense fell silent for the rest of the game while the Friars’ offense sprang to life. Servite struck for two runs in the top of the fourth and three runs in the top of the sixth to take their first lead of the game at 6-4. The Friars added two more in the top of the seventh on a two-run home run to complete the scoring.
