Paramus, NJ — Clifton Mustangs Varsity defeated Paramus Catholic 1-0 on Saturday. It was a pitching duel, but Vinny Civitella threw a shutout recording 15 strikeouts and giving up only 1 hit in the game. Kyle Vellis was called in to shut down the last batter as Civitella reached his pitch limit with just one out left in the game. Justin Rivera had two hits, while Nick Plaskon, Vinny Civitella and Dane Mocera each added a hit. Clifton got its run from Justin Rivera who drove in Josh Miller who reached second base on an errant throw on a hit ball to third base. The Mustangs improved their record to 4-2 as they look toward next week's games against PCTI and Passaic Valley.
