Shelton, CT — Shelton girls’ tennis coach Michelle Sedlock graduated six players. Senior captains Emily Carlin and Sammi McCook, along with an influx of newcomers, will take to the courts. “Through their actions on the court, Emily and Sammi provide leadership,” Sedlock said of her four-year players. “Emily leads with her play on the court. Sammi is very spirited and get everyone fired up. They are good role models.” Emily Cachillo and Katie Nam join them in singles. “It is still early so that is subject to change as the season goes along,” Sedlock said. “Katrina Hatfield is in mix to play singles. Our leading returning players for doubles are Emily Ahern, Sophia Fede, Jasmine Rosetti, Sophia Fabian, Katie Morrow and Katie Bergers. They have experience. “We are trying to find them partners. They could partner together or with new faces once they all get playing time. We have two newcomers doing well. They are Gizel Moonrose and Jamie Abate. There is probably going to be a rotation for doubles.” Sedlock is pleased with her team’s offseason. “Many have been playing tennis in the winter, taking lessons,” she said. “Gizel and Jamie have been playing tennis, they are just brand new to the team. Katie Nam is also playing well for a freshman. Our newcomers are giving us a boost we needed.” Brooke Fabian, Daniella Berry, Izzy Acervida, Lia Sheehy, Sophia Kostour and Harshita Upadhyay will play junior varsity. Mia Kmetz, Ciara Foley and Caitlin Pineau are team managers. [email protected] Twitter: @blox354 https://www.sheltonherald.com/sports/article/Carlin-McCook-lead-young-team-on-court-17075417.php
