Thompsonville, MI — The Caledonia Ski Team moved conference and home training slopes this year and the Scots are now part of the Lake Michigan Ski Conference at Crystal Mountain. The slopes and teams are great which is going to help the team as it continues to improve and prepare for regionals. At its first LMSC race, the girls team ended up in third place despite taking second in slalom. "We are extremely happy with how the team skied! Although we have skied a lot this winter, the snow depths have not allowed us to train for slalom or GS. We knew the girls were skiing well and are very happy with how it translated in racing on Wednesday." Coach Petrosky, "Our team was led by a mix of our returning skiers and some newcomers. Kyleigh Thompson, senior, placed 5th in slalom which was the highest placement for our skiers in either event. Also scoring in slalom were Liz Hilton (9th), Erin Peckham (11th) and Slovenian exchange student Tamara Sarkoeziova (13th). Scoring in giant slalom were French exchange student Vicky Brousse (8th), Liz Hilton (10th), freshman Madison Reynolds (12th) and Polish exchange student Zosia Skrzypek tied Erin Peckham, so they each placed 13.5." The Scots next race is the Benzie Invitational at Crystal Mountain on Monday Jan 22nd. The JV team skied very well. Leading the way in slalom were Ada Petersen, Katy Honhart, Adia Whisler and Elizabeth Honhart. Leading the way in GS were Katie Honhart, Adia Whisler, Ada Petersen, and Elizabeth Honhart.
