Andover, MA — Andover, MA – Wachusett Regional’s season came to an end in the championship game of the Andover Tournament as the Mountaineers fell to host Andover High School, 70-52. Despite a valiant effort, Wachusett struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Andover’s tough defense, leading to a tough loss in the final game of the year.
Andover Sets the Tone Early
Andover took control from the start, outscoring Wachusett 13-6 in the first quarter and building a 33-20 halftime lead. The Mountaineers fought back in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 11 points, but Andover pulled away in the fourth with a 21-point outburst to seal the victory.
Shooting efficiency was the key difference, as Andover finished the game shooting 52.1% from the field, while Wachusett struggled at 30.0%. Andover also dominated inside, scoring 34 points in the paint compared to Wachusett’s 10.
Offensive Struggles & Defensive Pressure
Wachusett struggled to generate consistent offense, making just 5 of 16 two-point attempts (31.3%). While they found some success from three-point range (7-for-24, 29.2%), it wasn’t enough to keep pace with Andover’s balanced attack.
On the defensive end, Wachusett forced 8 steals and recorded 9 deflections, but Andover’s ball movement and high-percentage shots made the difference. Andover also controlled the rebounding battle, grabbing 19 defensive rebounds to limit second-chance opportunities.
Key Performances
Seann Katubi (#15) led all scorers with 23 points, going 11-for-12 from the free-throw line, while also contributing 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
William Njoroge (#2) added 12 points, knocking down 6-of-6 free throws, but struggled from the field (2-for-7 FG).
Hunter Berry (#3) scored 10 points, but was held to 3-for-10 shooting, while also adding 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
Sam Mulroy (#12) chipped in 6 points, including a three-pointer.
Andover’s Balanced Attack
Andover’s depth proved to be too much, with multiple players making key contributions:
Owen Foley (#1) scored 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting, including 2-for-2 from deep.
Evan Crowley (#24) added 20 points, hitting 3 three-pointers and making 5 of 8 free throws.
Sam Concemi (#23) contributed 15 points, shooting 6-for-10 from the field.

Despite the tough loss, Wachusett capped off a competitive season with a strong tournament run, including a semifinal victory over St. John’s Prep. The Mountaineers showcased resilience and strong defensive play throughout the year and will look to build on their experience heading into the next season.
