Fantastic Finish

The lady lions of Carterville concluded their 2025 season at the IHSA 2A State Championships this Saturday. In by far their fastest race of the season, CHS finished in the top 25 teams in the state after being unranked for the majority of the season. Four out of seven runners set personal bests: Lane Sambursky, Claire Samples, Alyssa Ruiz, and Landry Crain. Additionally, Liesel Balmforth and Kennedy Diel were less than a minuscule ten seconds from personal bests, and Lyla Seaman ran within two seconds of her season-best time. With all seven runners returning for the lions in 2026, the future of CHS cross-country looks very bright indeed. Congratulations to all coaches and runners on a fantastic season and thank you to all family, friends, and fans for their exceptional support. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
