Woodland Hills, CA — We went into the meet missing two runners on both the boys and the girls team - so it wasn't looking too promising for the teams to advance on to City Finals. But the team came together and ran probably their best races of the year. Gustavo continued the impressive streak that he has been on for about a month now. As usual, he ran some people down at the end to get up to a 5th place finish in his heat. Combined with the results from the 2nd heat, he's got people talking about a possible trip to the State meet this year if he duplicates this performance at next week's Finals meet. The rest of the Varsity boys ran a great race - everyone posting good times, but more importantly running in a tight pack. Minimizing the gap between them was the key to their overall time being low enough to qualify in a top 10 position for City Finals. The girls didn't have anyone finishing in the top 10, so it was even more important that they stayed together. We had just a 2:30 gap between #1 and #5 - which, just like the boys, gave them a team time to qualify top 10 for City Finals. Karen and Jennifer ran great races for their first time at the Varsity level. Both have improved their times every week - and we're looking forward to seeing them continue to drop even more time next week.
