Baltimore, MD — In the second of back to back games, we were facing a good team from Connecticut. The boys while resting in between games had already sized them up as they arrived and waited across the field. The mental game had already began and the boys were already taking a lost worried about size and how they looked before they even stepped onto the field. The feeling surrounding the game now did not seem favorable. The game began with us playing defense and right off the bat, The Brotherhood looked to impose they will on us, they seemed to drive the ball down the field with ease and for the first time all season the secondary allowed a long pass and catch. You could see the boys body language change and attitudes changed right along with it, immediately we went down 6-0 before we even got going. The first half was a offensive struggle as we failed to really move the ball consistently and could not gain any momentum. The defense gave up a few more pass completion, which they had not given up all season long, the boys were missing tackles as well which added to the frustration. We went in to the half down 2 scores. Still in the game score wise, but mentally you could see in our boys eyes they were defeated mentally. The second half pretty much went the same as the first half, with the added frustration tempers began to get the best of our boys and all focus was lost at that point. The offense struggled to do anything meaningful with the exception of a few plays getting positive yardage, we were pretty much playing ugly football. Missed opportunities combined with players mentally out of it, we went on to give up 2 more scores in the second half, threw the air and a punt return and did not reach the end zone at all ourselves. The game by far was our worst game we have played all season. The boys were defeated before opening kickoff, a mistake not will not happen again. We will not use back to back games as an excuse, the boys were just beat by a good team 27-0, it happens. The test of a good team is how you bounce back from such a game, a game where you were beat in every aspect of the game. Are you going to fold and dwell on that lost or are you gonna suck it up and work harder? Are you going to lose before you get onto the field by a team's looks or are you going to get on the filed and battle and let your play speak for itself?? Its time to work on the mistakes, refocus, get over the butt kicking we received and get ready to go try to win a tournament coming up.
