San Juan Capistrano, CA — While the score was slightly less than the previous match (7-11) we played better as a team. Shout out to some of our newer players who don’t always get into the “news”. Playing line 3 doubles today, each playing 2 sets: kudos for good efforts by William Kante, Wesley Ulz and Cruz Wilkinson. All are improving, starting to communicate with each other while trying to find ways to beat the competition. At line #2 doubles, the trio of Gavin Conniff, Luke Stellar and Shaunt Karageozian produced 1 set win in the opening round (Luke and Gavin); while Gavin and Shaunt came close to knocking off their #1 team on court 6, getting 4 games. Line #1 doubles: Landon Sachs, Ronan McKeagney and Hudson Aase were responsible for 2 set wins. Hudson opened with Landon, beating their top team 6-4 in the opening round. Thank you Hudson for filling in during 7th period PE before Ronan got over after school. Ronan finished out 2 sets with Landon, winning 1 of those easily, 6-1. Landon earned MVP honors today, winning 2 of 3 sets played! On the singles side, kudos to Sam Asadi, Isaac Nguyen and Christopher Kemp who all played 3 sets of singles in the heat🤪😱 Sam gets MVP honors for winning 2 of 3 sets played. Isaac came within a tie-breaker of winning 2 sets, fighting back to force a TB on court 1, then going on to win in round 3: 6-2. Christopher Kempf played the longest first set, coming from way down to tie 4-4 before getting nosed out 4-6 in the opening round. In the final round, he fought back to force a tie-breaker, came up a bit short.. but all his teammates were rooting him on. Great effort today! Team pictures Monday. Cardinal SHORTS, Grey SHIRT.
