Niskayuna, NY — The Spartans JV baseball watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-1 loss to Niskayuna on Saturday. Niskayuna scored on a stolen base, an error, and a double by Kerr in the first inning. The Spartans struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Niskayuna, giving up 12 runs. In the first inning, Niskayuna got their offense started when Saule drew a walk, scoring one run. Niskayuna scored five runs in the fourth inning. Niskayuna's big inning was driven by doubles by Saminuk and Saule, a home run by Sardella, and an error on a ball put in play by Johnstone. Tristan Torres was on the hill for BHBL. The pitcher allowed eight hits and 11 runs over three and a third innings, striking out four. Hunter Rauhauser threw two and two-thirds innings in relief. Torres led the Spartans with two hits in three at bats. Niskayuna had ten hits in the game. Grasso, Kerr, and Sardella all had multiple hits for Niskayuna. Grasso went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Niskayuna in hits. Niskayuna stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Grasso led the way with two.
