Burnt Hills, NY — The Spartans fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 18-3 loss to Columbia on Wednesday. The Spartans struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Columbia, giving up 18 runs. Columbia opened up scoring in the first inning. Mcneff singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. Columbia scored six runs in the sixth inning. John DelGrosso, Lento, Aiden Scott, Daniel Cantwell, and Ronan Kreshik all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Shane Baker earned the win for Columbia. The fireballer went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out three. Mason Smith threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Hunter Rauhauser took the loss for the Spartans. The righty went three innings, allowing seven runs on 14 hits, striking out two and walking one. BHBL tallied eight hits. Rauhauser, Marvin, and Chad Lewandowski each racked up multiple hits for the Spartans, collecting two hits each. Tristan Torres led the Spartans on the base paths with two stolen bases, as the team tallied a total of six stolen bases. Columbia collected 27 hits on the day. Kreshik, Cole Mellen, Mcneff, Lento, Baker, Caleb Welcome, Cantwell, Scott, and DelGrosso each had multiple hits for Columbia. Kreshik went 5-for-6 at the plate to lead Columbia in hits.
