Stratford, CT — Stratford started the week winning a thrilling back and forth tussle with SWC league opponent New Fairfield 8-7. Stratford jumped out to an early 5-1 after 3 innings and a later 7-4 lead after six innings before New Fairfield gutted out rallies to even the game on those two occasions. Stratford’s bottom of the seventh proved to be exciting for the home fans as Soph Zach Rider drew a lead off walk, was sac bunted to second by Senior Ron Kerkes, and after Senior J.J. Romatzick was intentionally passed, Junior Jake Kszywanos made the opposition pay by belting a fastball opposite field over the rightfielder’s head for the game winning walk-off double plating Zach Rider. Junior Joe Booska started for Stratford, was relieved by Junior Ben Petrie in the 3rd, and J.J. Romatzick ended up handling the 7th getting the win.
