Hanford, CA — Dirtdogs Lujan put up six runs in the second inning on its way to a 10-3 victory over the Cen Cal Stars on Sunday. Audrina Ortiz, Alexis Ruvalcaba, McKinly Meister, Makenzie Cantu and Melanie Mendoza all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. The Cen Cal Stars opened up the scoring in the first inning, when Gaby Peña doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The Dirtdogs pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. Ortiz singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Ruvalcaba doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, Meister singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Cantu singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Mendoza singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Emma Hernandez got the win for the Dirtdogs. Hernandez allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out five. Daniela Escamilla threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Peña took the loss for the Cen Cal Stars. The pitcher lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out one and walking zero. The Dirtdogs had ten hits in the game. Meister and Avery Smith each collected multiple hits for the Dirtdogs. Meister went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Dirtdogs in hits. Eli Reyna led the Cen Cal Stars with two hits in three at bats.
