San Juan Capistrano, CA — Frosh Soph squads A & B put our FS program back in the winning column today, defeating Canyon High School 18-0. Canyon HS in Anaheim Hills is a “storied” program w a history of strong teams at Varsity and JV. Had we known the experience level of their FS team, we would have suited up our DH2 team for a little more competition. But our girls were good hostesses, did not gloat at the ez victories; we had some closer sets at lines 4,5 & 6 in this all doubles match. Thank you ladies for your classy sportsmanship this afternoon, that means a lot to us coaches. We had 19 players show up, so mathematically it was impossible to get everyone in twice, despite playing all doubles. While everyone obviously made the 100% club, we are going to honor the DH2 players who participated today, as MVP’s. MVP Honors to: Lucca Lutz, Evelyn Natzke and Melina Kashi each playing twice at line #4 doubles. Emma Doss, Mia DeWames and Chloe Gallaher at line # 3. 4 players “fielded” line #5 doubles. Winning 1 of 1 played: Sammy Ringold and Delaney Mills. Winning 2 of 2 played, congrats to Emily Meyer and Maddy Shahinian. Well played ladies, all of you! The “top half of the draw” was rather lopsided, as JSerra not only won all 9 sets, 7 were “bagels” (6-0). Kate Layk, Chiara Manta and Riley Godber swept at line #1. Ella Joutz, GG Fernandez and Ariana Wagner swept at line #2. Maddy Valente, Elliana Castro and Bryanna Noorian at line 3, we’re the only combo of players who won all 3 sets 6-0! Well done! Our 2022 Frosh Soph team now sits at 7 wins vs 6 losses. 7 wins is a school best for FS girls Tennis = Best Season Ever! Let’s keep working hard to stay on that positive win ratio. Next up: Thursday, Oct. 6th at Capistrano Valley HS, 3pm. (Squads B & C)
