Medford, OR — Let's face it, Sutherlin is just one tough soccer team. Cascade Christian has seen that time and time again in the last few seasons. Here's the good news: the scores are gradually getting closer and closer as the Challengers continue building up. Josie Scaglione was brilliant as the goalkeeper, and Jordynn Jones spearheaded a spirit defensive effort in the 5-0 loss. Scaglione showed great courage and athleticism, with finger-tip saves, saves on point-blank shots by Sutherlin, and showing great reflexes. When you field as many shots as she did, some will get through.  Coach Jonathan Hillis her play is inspiring and a "joy to watch." He added the observation that his team never gave up. Defensively, Jones was aggressive on the back line, and freshman Mae Ferreira had a brilliant slide tackle clearance. Next week, the Challenger ladies travel to Coquille on Monday and host North Valley on Thursday. Let's give this rising team a nice show of support.
