Westborough, MA — With 1:37 left to play in overtime, Thomas Willman collected a pass from Dennis Jardine and wristed home the game-winner to lift the Mountaineers to a 3-2 win over Algonquin to win the 2022 Boro's Cup. In the first period, Jason Flaherty put Wachusett up 1-0 on a partial breakaway goal assisted by Nick Brousseau and Parker Meyer. Algonquin tied the game 3 minutes later, but Clark Gardula put Wachusett ahead 2-1 on a nice rebound goal assisted by Aidan Riley and Patrick McGugan. Algonquin scored a power play goal with 5:28 left in the second and the game would stay 2-2 all the way until overtime before Willman's 4 on 3 power play goal sealed it for Wachusett. Casey Dmochowski turned in another outstanding performance in net making 18 saves for Wachusett. The team is now 3 and 0 and will travel to Groton on Wednesday night for a Roy Conference tilt against the Crusaders of Groton Dunstable at 7 pm.
