Westborough, MA — Parker Meyer picked a great night to score his first two goals of the season to lead Wachusett past Nashoba 2 - 1 on Wednesday night. At 7:04 of the first period, Wachusett was short-handed. Will Vallee broke up a play along the wall and chipped a puck into the neutral zone where Meyer picked it up and raced down the ice. He sniped a wrist shot over the glove of the goalie to put Wachusett up 1-0. Nashoba would tie the game at 1 on a power play goal with just 34 seconds left in the first period. The game would remain 1-1 until early in the third period. At 2:27 of the third, Wachusett forechecked hard in the left corner and forced a turnover. Aidan Riley centered the puck to Meyer whose first shot was stopped by the Wolves' goaltender. Meyer followed his shot and banged in the rebound to put the Mountaineers up 2-1. Wachusett would kill off 2 more power play opportunities in the third period behind excellent goaltending by Casey Dmochowski. Casey probably had his best game of the season stopping 30 of 31 Nashoba shots. Wachusett's team defense was solid all night led by Thomas Willman, Braeden McKenzie, Alec Thibeau, Will Savino, and Nick Brousseau and the penalty kill units of Dennis Jardine, Parker Meyer, Xavier McManus, Clark Gardula, and Will Vallee helped to kill off 5 of 6 power plays. This was a great team win!
