Piscataway, NJ — Bombers snagged a late lead and defeated Piscataway Chiefs Varsity 7-3 on Monday. The game was tied at two with Bombers batting in the top of the ninth when Aayush Mehta singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. In the first inning, Piscataway Chiefs Varsity got their offense started when Michael Wojcik grounded out, scoring one run. In the top of the third inning, Bombers tied things up at two when Mahir Shah's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Bombers. Mehta was the winning pitcher for Bombers. The pitcher allowed six hits and one run over five innings, striking out five. Shah toed the rubber for Piscataway Chiefs Varsity. The lefthander allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three. Wojcik and Elijah Suarez entered the game as relief, throwing four and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively. Thomas Schlaline started the game for Bombers. The righty went four innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out five Bombers tallied ten hits. Mehta, Jake Romanello, and Schlaline each collected multiple hits for Bombers. Schlaline, Romanello, and Mehta each managed two hits to lead Bombers. Bombers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Romanello led the way with three.
