Tonganoxie, KS — The boys grabbed a victory against Lansing. A game where we were the dominant team but the scoreline not showing. The boys came out ready to play and we’re very lively during the game. No one would ever complain about their effort tonight. We played kick ball the first 30 minutes of the the first half and then the last 10 minutes we were able to string some passes together. We did have many opportunities to go ahead earlier in the game though. Lachlan Bond drew a foul in the box and ended up being the one to take the PK. Lachlan with his signature stutter move was able to beat the keeper as he buried the ball to the left of the keeper. Later in the half Jameson Breitzman was able to get the ball to Emery Weiser who took the ball 20 more yards and was able to get a shot off back post. His shot ended up going off the post and into the goal. What a goal for him! I’m really looking forward to more from him this season. The second half we had many chances to add to our lead. We just weren’t able to convert and ended up conceding a goal during a moment of transition for our boys. Jackson McWilliams had some fantastic saves to make sure we kept our lead and really was a leader in the back. He has reliable ball skills with his feet which allows us to play back to our keeper. MVP of the game is Emery Weiser for his goal which ended up being the game winner. Emery looked great on the outside and it has been great to see him grow this season. Also other standouts: Andrea Columbano was great in the midfield and showed off some great foot skills. Jackson McWilliams had some huge saves for us and really was great in the back. Lachlan McRae was a stud in the defense. He kept the ball away from the box and was as strong as ever playing defense for us. Really we had a lot of guys standout for us, our outside backs Caeder Albert and Aidan VanMiddlesworth worked hard on the outside for our team and had an impressive game. Jameson Breitzman was great as a target forward and is really coming into the roll. Gavin Shupe in the middle can be a game changer. Cole Kessler and Ethan Butler continue to grow as our center backs and have the chance to be solid this year. Lachlan Bond as an outside forward for us is proving to be dangerous as well. Injury update: Silas Kirchoff sustained an injury to his arm and will be out for at least 2 weeks as he recovers. He is such a skilled player and we look forward to getting him back on the field later this season. He can be a difference maker for this team and I have no doubt he will hit the ground running. The boys get ready for Spring Hill Tuesday in what will be a tough league matchup.
