San Juan Capistrano, CA — “There has to be a pony under there” said the optimistic twin…..For those who don’t know this old “public speaker” story, twin brothers each got a giant pile of manure in their rooms for their birthday. Nuggets of good from today’s tough loss: 1. There were some very good come from behind efforts that gained us games, even though the sets were lost. Elliana Castro down 1-4 as was Alex Marsh, both fought back to tie. Every game counts and we would have won on game count had we tied in sets 9-9. 2. Great winning comeback by Kinsley Moore who won 7-5 in the opening round to give us an important 4-2 lead. She also battled hard against their top 2 players, getting 3 games in each of those 2 sets. 3. 2 doubles teams are on a roll heading towards the league tournament: Peyton Salas w Kate Layk who won 3 for 3 again; and Arina Wagner w Abby Godber, who were pretty much one shot away from beating their top team. They were a tie-breaker point away from winning all 3 at Mater Dei last Thursday as well. 4. Alex Marsh has gone 6-7 and 5-7 with the top 2 players in the league (MD & SM) and has momentum going into the league tournament. She was the only player to beat their #2 player today. Our other win came in doubles w Chiara Manta and Riley Godber in round 2. This match was 6-6 going into the third round, and the game count at that point was 57-57! Can’t get much closer than that… Not a lot of videos or photos today, sorry….the camera man was nervous. Thank you Valente family for providing PLENTY of water and sugar free Gatorade on a very warm afternoon, most of it was consumed….along w some good snack items too. Next up: home vs Saint Margaret’s tomorrow, Oct. 18th. 3 pm
